Bachelor Pad

In 2003, we were offered a ‘dream project’ – re-design a home for an amazing client with an unlimited budget. Originally constructed in 1980, the house was taken down to the studs, walls were removed, and additions expanded the space where needed. Typical windows were replaced by frameless panels of glass held together with metal fasteners, imported from by Germany. A curving, walnut open-riser staircase with stainless-steel details was designed with a luxurious rise and run. Interior spaces of the 8500 square foot home were warmed by Black American Walnut wide plank floors accented with Maple dowels. The living room’s 20-foot-high ceiling was split by a 40 by 10-foot skylight. Drywall bulkheads accommodate lighting and conceal the supporting metal ties. A large entertaining space was created by opening the dining and living room areas to a lounge/ bar. The exterior stone was continued into the home resulting in a seamless outdoor/indoor connection. The wood-burning fireplace was clad in a Moroccan marble selected for its unique and beautiful color and its large round and tapered fossils.  A bespoke collection of furniture, rugs and accessories was curated from many suppliers worldwide.
